2015
Oil on panel
45 x 45.00 cms (17.72 x 17.72 ins)
£1,587.00
This panel was begun in emulsions on location at Perranuthnoe church, not far from the ancient town of Marazion, Cornwall. I later workedd it in oil paint in the studio. I love the way the piece captures the elemental spiritual atmosphere of the place, which lies on the Mary ley line, snaking its way from Land's End.
2021
Oil on canvas
76 x 51 cms (29.92 x 20.08 ins)
£2,918.00
This substantial oil painting, for me, is shrouded in mystery, as I cannot remember where it began life! Was it outdoors or in the studio? I'm not sure. But I do know it has undergone many transformations to reach the depth of atmosphere and earthy solidarity it now possesses.
2013
Watercolour
20 x 30 cms (7.87 x 11.81 ins)
£553.00
For the first decade or so of my career, the whole of the 80s, I painted exclusively in watercolour. I absolutely love the way it finds its own way across the paper, forming the most exquisite watermarks, which need no modification.
This watercolour was done much more recently, but still contains those early essential elements.
2022
Oil on panel
27 x 75 cms (10.63 x 29.53 ins)
£1,549.00
The southern coastline here in Cornwall often appears as the closest thing to a little touch of heaven for me. This painting is inspired by the feel of just such places between Marazion and Praa Sands, during those out-of-season moments of tranquility.
2018
Oil on canvas
40 x 40 cms (15.75 x 15.75 ins)
£1,306.00
One of my favourite places to paint on the south coast - Kenneggy. I love the range of extreme weather and atmospheric conditions experienced here, as in most of the hidden beauty spots in Cornwall.
This piece nicely captures one of those dreamy atmospheric days of distant obscurity.
2022
Oil on canvas
40 x 40 cms (15.75 x 15.75 ins)
£1,306.00
Isn't it just a stroke of sheer magic - when the blue begins to show through the soft mirky, misty delight of a Cornish-mizzle day over the moors? I think I captured those kind of moments OK here - at least I hope so.
2012
Oil on Paper
31 x 30 cms (12.20 x 11.81 ins)
£872.00
A view from Carn Gloose, near St. Just, along the coast, past Sennen, to the most westerly point in Cornwall, or even the UK! Cot Valley is just tucked in out of sight to the left.
This piece was originlly painted on location in water-based paint and later enhanced in oil in the studio.

Mixed Media on Paper
31 x 22 cms (12.20 x 8.66 ins)
£607.00
Ever since moving to Cornwall in my late teens, I have always loved exploring off the beaten track, (or coast path), and discovering those special secret places - beneath the cliffs, when the tide is low, and I am alone, but never alone.
2008
Oil on canvas
102 x 77 cms (40.16 x 30.31 ins)
£3,500.00
The Fal river snakes its way through the trees at Tresillian, near Truro. The place I began this oil painting is also on the Mary ley line that runs from Land's End across the southern part of the country. It was first shown in Truro in 2008, as part of a show of work done along ley lines, demonstrating the special enegies at those connective places.
2022
Oil on canvas
61 x 51 cms (24.02 x 20.08 ins)
£2,250.00
The moorlands of west Cornwall never fail to evoke something divine within the depth of my being. I try my best to pass this forward in the work - especially the quality of light here.
Oil on panel
61 x 61 cms (24.02 x 24.02 ins)
£1,995.00
The natural world, especially the ancient land itself, here in Cornwall, gives rise to much of the ispiration for my work. The sublime feelings I experience at times makes me want to share as much as I can of the elation I experience, poised in the balance of the natural world.
2013
Oil on panel
30 x 41 cms (11.81 x 16.14 ins)
£1,062.00
The coast of west Cornwall is full of atmospheric surprises in any season. Wintertime has its specail magic in these out-of-the-way places, when the storms begin to crave expression.
2008
Oil on Paper
31 x 43 cms (12.20 x 16.93 ins)
£997.00
I'm not sure exactly how this painting began life. I think it was originally an outdoor sketch. But now, for me, it speaks of those expansive places along the Cornish coast-line, where marsh, beach and sea combine their energies in sublime delight.
2010
Oil on canvas
35 x 35 cms (13.78 x 13.78 ins)
£897.00
So many colours combine to creat a feeling. And then there is the illusion of distance. But most of all there are the dark shadows, so essential for showing up the sublime light. Shine on you crazy Cornish moorland morn!
Oil on canvas
60 x 80 cms (23.62 x 31.50 ins)
£2,995.00
When I contemplate this oil painting, I'm reminded of a line from Peter Gabriel: "Only in adversity, we are naked and alive". We experience some pretty adverse conditions at times along the rugged granite Cornish coast. I'm not sure exactly which part of the coast was the original inspiration for this piece, but it definitely captures for me the feeling of being there - in that raw aliveness.
2018
Oil on panel
41 x 46 cms (16.14 x 18.11 ins)
£1,497.00
What made me wish to paint a tree as a central obect, I'm not sure. Somehow this oil painting speaks of the beaury of the shadow, along with the light.
2013
Oil on panel
30 x 27 cms (11.81 x 10.63 ins)
£797.00
There are places I could show you, (and no doubt you could show me), when the light becomes so intimate that it moves us to tears. It's not easy to share these moments, once they have passed. I try to in my own way.
Oil on panel
50 x 72 cms (19.68 x 28.35 ins)
£2,350.00
These quiet places along the exquisite Cornish coastline are so often recalled in dream-like imagery. We go to these places, we enjoy them and leave. Days pass as life continues, with all the encumbent stresses. Then one day we again remember being there that evening - the eve of a forgotten dream.
2019
Oil on canvas
80 x 100 cms (31.50 x 39.37 ins)
£3,995.00
This oil on canvas was originally part of a set of four paintings, commissioned around the iconic location of Rough Tor, (pronounced row - as in maybe a couple arguing!), on Bodmin Moor. I worked the painting from a charcoal sketch I did on lacation, then returned a month or two later to re-experience the feel of the place, as the road snaked off in the distance toward moorland oblivion. Light and shade are an integral aspect in creating the balance of this piece and its sense of space.
2022
Oil on panel
20 x 17 cms (7.87 x 6.69 ins)
£514.00
How to capture light with colour - including the shadows as well as the lucidity? It just won't work with too many details across the surface of the work. So, far more goes into the layers, the oil glazes that finally obscure all but the effulgent delight of woodland light and shade.
2022
Oil on panel
16 x 20 cms (6.30 x 7.87 ins)
£502.00
I'm not sure how this small oil panel began, or quite what inspired it. But the sense of living beside the water's edge - in peace and tranquility - brings back the remembered essence of at least a few occasions in my life.
2018
Oil on canvas
90 x 90 cms (35.43 x 35.43 ins)
£3,995.00
This painting began as part of a series of paintings I did around 2003/4 from photos of marines in Afghanistan. Much later I decided to abstract the work into a context where all conflict is harmonised. This piece, for me, still holds the essence of the struggle we all face at times, to push through adversity; as though we are crawling through the mirky shadows toward the light. However painful, all of it is sublime.
2022
Oil on canvas
80 x 100 cms (31.50 x 39.37 ins)
£3,995.00
The interplay between sublime forces that shape our lives has something to do with the title I eventually gave this picture. It began life in my studio possibly a decade ago. Having undergone a number of transformations over the years, it has resolved itself finally into a colourful expression that involves both strong shadow and light.
