"Every day, when I go for my walk, I pass the same old pine tree up on the hill. Every day I pause - like Christopher Robin, hands in the small of my back - look up, and we say hello. Sometimes he has a song for me, sometimes Raven drops out of the high branches - a black rag, breaking loose from wirey needles. Sometimes a shimmer of Goldcrests - impossibly small and inaudible to me now. Some days a sea wind mixes salt with the the scent of resin and there is a scattering of cones on the lane. But most days nothing particularly special happens and we just stand a while, breathing the same good air, until it's time for one of us to go." SG
