The poetic and emotional nature of Molly’s work combines compositional references to Ken Kiff, Marc Chaghall and Charlotte Salomon with the artists own vision as she observes the complexities of human behaviour within social interactions and relationships – questioning feelings around power, confusion, anxiety, pressure, expectation alienation and regret!
“Through drawing and painting, I endeavour to better process complex emotions, and observe them through a wider lens of humour and playfulness. My work is figurative, and I tend to create vague narratives that speak of overall themes rather than a specific story. Here, semi-swaddled, squashed figures encounter strange and symbolic surroundings in chaotic and ambiguous landscapes. Often limbless, these figures are passive observers of the world around them, experiencing their surroundings without agency or action.”
